Richard Briggs

Richard is a recognised leader in commercial dispute resolution in the UAE and has practised contentious business law in the UAE and Middle East region for most of his career. His areas of specialisation are in the commercial litigation and arbitration fields, particularly with reference to commercial dispute, maritime, trade and insurance law in the United Arab Emirates and larger Middle East area.

Prior to working as Executive Partner at Hadef & Partners, Richard trained with Clifford Chance in London, worked with Clifford Chance in London and Dubai (1992 – 1996), later joining Al Tamimi & Co as partner (1996 – 2004).

Richard is a member of the Law Society and a Practicing Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. He is also a member of the International Bar Association (IBA), the Inter Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) and ICC FraudNet Member for the UAE.
Further, Richard is President – Elect of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA).

Richard was formerly the Chairman of the ICC FraudNet S&P Committee from 2017 – 2019 and member of the ICC FraudNet Advisory Board, and former Vice Chair of the IBA Maritime Committee from 2008 – 2014. Richard was also former Vice Chair and Board Member of the Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre (EMAC).

Jan specialises in mergers and acquisitions (of both public and private companies), capital market operations (IPOs, public takeover bids, and public-to-private transactions), corporate finance, and venture capital transactions. In addition, he is active in the regulation of activities of domestic and foreign credit institutions, investment firms, and insurance companies active in Belgium.

Sara Marchetta

Sara Marchetta lives and works in Beijing, China since 1997, when she started to work as Junior Associate of Birindelli e Associati (an Italian Firm). She joined Chiomenti Law Firm (an Italian Law Firm) in 2008 and became a partner in 2011.

Sara Marchetta mainly provides assistance to Chinese and Italian and clients in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, cross border contracts (joint Ventures, technology transfers) and other transactional matters. She was involved in the assistance for the major Chinese investments into Italy and she regularly advises a number of Italian MNCs in their cross-border investments into China.

Her expertise includes investment agreements, corporate governance and shareholders agreements with relevant disputes, international commercial contracts and technology transfers, including joint ventures and cooperation projects between Italian and Chinese companies, in different industrial sectors.
