Charandeep Kaur

Charandeep Kaur is a Partner and senior member of the corporate practice group at Trilegal. Charandeep also heads the National Capital Region offices of the Firm and serves as a member on the Board of Trilegal.

Charandeep has over 2 decades of experience and leads Trilegal’s Japan practice and regularly advises clients on complex and high- value mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity investments, entry strategies as well as regulatory advise on intricate legal issues and structuring of foreign investments into India. Charandeep’s practice has accumulated a vast experience in cross border transactions in multiple sectors including Real Estate, Manufacturing, Energy, E-commerce, Logistics, IT & ITES, Automotives, Education, Healthcare, and Hospitality. Charandeep acts as a strategic counsel for international brands on their India entry strategies as well as expansion plans.

She is a trusted legal advisor to leading Fortune 500 companies, international organizations, and has served on the board of prominent corporates including Uniqlo India and Mytrah Energy. Notably, Charandeep has also been recognised as one of India’s 100 leading women leaders by the Indian National Bar Association in association with United Nations.

Charandeep is a member of the SPPI Advisory Board of International Bar Association (IBA) and the Immediate Past Chair of the Women Interest Group of the IBA. She is also the incoming Co-Chair of Cross-Border Investment Committee of the Inter Pacific Bar Association (IPBA).


Sahiba Chait

Sahiba oversees the legal function for Marriott International in the South Asia region. Based out of Gurgaon, she provides legal advice to the Company in their Development initiatives and their asset management and operations related work. She has been with Marriott for 9 years. Before Marriott, she worked with IDFC and Trilegal on project financing matters.

I am Head of Sustainability at Falck Renewables SpA, an international “pure play” in the renewable energies sector (www.falckrenewables.com). More recently, I have become deputy board member at WindEurope and member of IRENA Coalition for Action.
I am an independent director in the Board of Directors of PTS-CLAS Group (www.ptsclas.com).
I chair C+3C Systems and Strategies, a strategic consulting practice in the fields of energy, sustainability, and infrastructure (www.cplus3c.com).
I am a member of the World Energy Council’s Programme Committee (www.worldenergy.org), a senior advisor for sustainable development at the Europe-China Municipal Development Commission (www.ecmdc.eu), a member of the advisory board of the European Institute for Urban Comparative Research (EURICUR). I form part of the editorial board of the Journal of Sustainability Research (https://sustainability.hapres.com/).

Previously, I extensively served in China at the Sino-Italian Cooperation Programme (SICP) for Environmental Protection. I started-up and co-directed the Europe-China Clean Energy Centre (www.ec2.org.cn), promoted by the European Commission and the National Energy Administration of China. I started-up and directed the Enel Foundation (www.enelfoundation.org), devoted to research, capacity building and dissemination in the fields of energy, socioeconomics, sustainable development and innovation.
I was a member of the World Energy Council’s Studies Committee for two terms.

Sudipta Ghosh

As a part of the Leadership Team of Apraava Private Limited (previously known as CLP India Private Limited) and as the General Counsel of Apraava group, Sudipta is actively involved in advising the Company on various legal aspects of setting up greenfield conventional and renewable power projects including transmission assets, M&A transactions specially in relation to acquisition of Power Projects and works closely with the business people to establish business terms, identify legal issues and decide what type and level of risk is acceptable.

She leads a team of young and dynamic lawyers. The Apraava Legal team operates as a perfect blend of in-house and private practice experience. Sudipta joined Apraava in 2009 as an Assistant Legal Counsel and since then she has grown with the organization. In 2017, she was appointed as the General Counsel for Apraava group. Prior to joining Apraava, she has worked with two prestigious law firms – Trilegal and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (previously known as Amarchand Mangaldas Suresh A. Shroff & Associates), where she handled various domestic and international financing for infrastructure projects including the financing for Power Projects and Airports.

As a General Counsel it is her constant endeavour to become counsellors in the truest sense of the term, to not only prevent problems before they can materialize, but to offer innovative legal strategies that support the business goals. She works as a strategic partner to the business units and in the last few years sphere headed the acquisition of power transmission assets in 2019, which marked Apraava’s entry into the power transmission sector; aided in evaluating the regulatory framework for SECI VIII Project where Apraava emerged as a successful bidder and concluded construction contracts for the Project; advised on acquisition of two solar projects and guided the company through various regulatory changes and were victorious in various litigations.

Sudipta also works with various forums internally as well as externally to promote gender diversity and inclusivity. She is the Chairperson of the Internal Complaints Committee set up under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and a member of the D&I Council. She is also a director on the Board of three (3) Apraava’s subsidiary companies.

Sudipta has been recognized as one of the “top 100 women lawyers in India” by World IP Forum in 2017 and was recently awarded the “Star Woman in Law” by Legal Era Magazine. The Apraava Legal Department was also awarded the “Best in-house Legal Department” (small size) by IDEX Legal in 2019 and the Energy and Resource in- house team of the year 2020 by Asia Legal Business.
